Professional Carpet Cleaning in Christchurch

Professional carpet cleaning in Christchurch relies on two primary industry methods—deep steam cleaning (hot water extraction) and low-moisture encapsulation—to sanitise carpet fibres, extract deeply embedded soils, and eliminate stubborn odours. At Advanced Carpet Cleaning, our family-run team uses a science-based approach tailored to your specific carpet type, whether you need heavy restoration for wool carpets or rapid-drying maintenance for a busy household.

Steam cleaning vs low moisture cleaning: which is right for you?

Choosing between steam cleaning and low-moisture cleaning depends on whether your carpet requires deep-seated soil extraction or rapid drying convenience, as both methods effectively sanitise and refresh indoor flooring. We bring truck-mounted steam capability and specialised orbital encapsulation equipment directly to your property, advising you on the ideal treatment during our initial walkthrough.

How do you protect carpet from future stains and wear?

You can protect carpets and fine rugs from permanent liquid stains, UV fading, and abrasive wear by applying Microseal Organic, a premium wool-safe surface barrier shield.

Microseal Organic penetrates the internal fibre matrix rather than merely sitting on the surface, making it safe for all fabric types including 100% New Zealand wool, silk blends, and synthetics.

  • High-Traffic Shielding: Prevents dry soils and mud from scoring delicate carpet yarns like microscopic sandpaper.
  • Spill Resistance: Creates a hydrophobic barrier that gives you vital time to blot up spills before they set into permanent stains.
  • Safe & Sustainable: Non-toxic, non-allergenic, and safe for homes with infants and pets.

What happens during a professional carpet clean?

1.

Pre inspection

We walk through your home with you, evaluating fibre construction, testing stain types, and discussing areas of specific concern.

2.

Dry soil removal

Commercial brush-vacuums extract loose grit, sand, and pet hair prior to introducing moisture, lifting the pile for deeper penetration.

3.

Soil suspension

Eco-friendly, wool-safe pre-treatments are applied to break down trapped body oils, grease, and deep-seated dirt.

4.

Stain treatments & soil extraction

Targeted chemistry neutralizes tough stains, followed by thermal steam or low-moisture extraction. You can even see the dark, extracted soil in our sight glasses!

5.

Pile grooming

We groom the carpet pile to align the yarns, ensuring a uniform finish and accelerating overall drying time.

Carpet cleaning FAQs

  • What's the difference between steam cleaning and low moisture cleaning?

We provide both steam cleaning and low moisture cleaning, tailored to your carpet type and needs for the best results.

  • How long will it take for my carpets to dry?

Drying times vary depending on carpet type, condition, cleaning method, ventilation and ambient temperature.

    For instance:

    • Wool carpet may take longer to dry than nylon
    • Heavily soiled carpet requiring more intensive product use, flushing and extraction may take longer to dry than a lightly soiled carpet
    • Cleaned carpet in a warm and well-ventilated room (ie. windows left open enough to create airflow) will dry more quickly than if the room is very cold and/or closed up
    • The low moisture method of cleaning will leave the carpet virtually dry, whereas steam cleaning is likely to leave the carpet damp for a time

If you’ve experienced being left with a very wet carpet after a previous cleaner, rest assured we will never do this.

  • How much does carpet cleaning cost per room in Christchurch?

Absolutely! We like nothing more than fully removing an unsightly stain!

Our team specialises in accurately evaluating stains and odours and choosing treatment/s best suited to your carpet.

Our honest appraisal and treatment options will take into account your carpet age and type, the cause of the stain or odour, and if any DIY remedies have already been tried.

  • Do you handle tough stains and odours?

Yes, we use advanced molecular chemistry to target the specific pH of stubborn stains—including red wine, coffee, pet accidents, and milk—breaking the bond to the fibre without stripping original dyes.

  • What about pollen, printer toner, liquid ink, paint, and oil?

The sooner you address a spill, the better your chances of avoiding permanent stains.

For pollen, printer toner, liquid ink, paint or oil  DO NOT follow the instructions listed below; instead, refer to the FAQ above: What about pollen, printer toner, liquid ink, paint, and oil?

For most other spills, here's a quick step-by-step guide:

Scrape solids: Gently scrape solid matter toward the centre without pushing it deeper into the fibres.

Blot liquids: Use a clean, white cloth to soak up as much liquid as possible.

Dilute and step: Pour warm water over the spill (250 - 500ml at a time for a small to medium spill), cover with folded towels, and step on them to absorb moisture. Repeat until absorbed moisture looks clear.

Pet accidents: For fresh pet stains, repeat the process several times to prevent odour and staining.

Use detergent cautiously: A drop of detergent can help, but too much can leave a new stain.

No scrubbing: Never rub the carpet—it can damage fibres and make the stain permanent.

If you're unsure, give us a call on 0800 566 576 for advice.

  • What are your top tips for managing a spill before you arrive?

Blot the spill immediately with a clean, dry white towel or paper napkin; never scrub or rub vigorously, as friction can permanently fray wool carpet cuticles and spread the stain deeper into the underlay.

  • Can you remove furniture indents from heavy sofas?

Yes, our hot steam extraction combined with pile grooming helps relax crushed carpet backing and re-align flattened wool fibres to lift heavy furniture indents.

  • Will carpet cleaning get rid of fleas or carpet moths?

While deep thermal steam kills active larvae on contact, complete eradication requires specialized residual treatments.

  • How often should I get my carpets cleaned?

We want to say yes whenever possible, but for your protection and ours we always take into account:

    • Manufacturer’s cleaning instructions (usually outlined on a label on the back of the rug)
    • Size, condition and location of the rug
    • Any risk factors such as dye-run, viscose or silk content.
  • Do you clean wool area rugs?

Yes, insurance companies are often very happy for us to provide you with the professional service you require.

We recommend you check with your insurer first.

We liaise directly with you on all matters, and receive payment from you at the time of service which can be deducted from your excess in the event of a claim.

If required, we provide a report on the damage and the work we carried out, and any relevant recommendations which you can then provide to your insurer in the event of a claim.

  • We may make an insurance claim for carpet damage. Can you help?

Yes, it’s important to us that the products we use are safe for all in your household, both during the cleaning process and afterwards. Our go-to products are friendly for people, pets and the environment too! They are only lightly scented to enhance the freshness of your clean space.

Sometimes we need to use other products for tougher stains. If anyone in your household has product sensitivities, let us know so we can decide on an option you’re happy with.

We also keep in stock a range of low-VOC products for use when significant sensitivities are a concern. Chat with us about these products when you call.

  • Are your cleaning products safe for pets and children?

Yes, we can take care of drying wet carpet, and any affected underlay, skirtings and subfloor.

But if it may become an insurance claim, we recommend you advise your insurer first.

  • We’ve had a water leak or flood. Can you help?

Yes, we provide urgent water extraction services to remove standing liquid, sanitise carpet underlay, and deploy drying equipment to prevent mold growth.

  • What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept Mobile EFTPOS, major credit cards, and direct bank transfers right at your door upon job completion.
